Heavy Cruiser Project 2

This design can be found in Norman Friedman's US Cruisers Illustrated Design History on page 291. She is an Alaska,

or cruiser killer alternative. The text is the following:

"A 24,100-ton heavy cruiser, March 1938, showing a mixture of battleship (-for example battleship style torpedo protection system-) and cruiser fetures: 800 X 90 X 25.2 feet, 28,600-ton displacement on trial, 196,000 SHP, 35 knots. The 7.3-4-in side belt extends 6 feet 6 inches above and 4 feet 6 inches below the waterline, and there is 100-lb side plating above the belt. The weather deck is 50 pounds as shown, with a 2.5-in armor deck and, 30 inches below it, a 25 lb splinter deck."

I added a double crane layout (IMHO it looks better), however the original design has only one crane a bit after than depicted.

So she is quite a powerful heavy cruiser.
